The Wave Transit is pleased to announce these recent accomplishments.· Record Ridership-The Wave Transit is celebrating over 1 million passenger trips taken during FY08, totaling 1,093,004 passenger trips. This represents a 14% ridership increase compared to FY07. A Million Passenger Celebration is being scheduled to recognize customers and employees for dedicated service in achieving this service milestone.
· Employment Route Service to Pinto Island- November 3, 2008, The Wave Transit will operate an open to the public employment route service to Pinto Island, servicing Atlantic Marine and other employment sites along that area. This service will operate on a 30 day trial basis, with two morning and afternoon runs departing the GM&O and Pinto Island.
· Bus Stop Signage installation-The Wave Transit has completed replacement and installation of 1,400 Bus Stop Signs throughout the service area.
1. Route Identification Signs have been procured and will be installed at bus stop locations throughout the service area.
2. Passenger Information Signs (100+ signs) detailing bus routes and schedules are being installed at designated stops in the service area.
· The Wave Transit is a winner-The Wave Transit won first place honors (October 2008) at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Adwheel Awards in the electronic division for radio. The winning entry highlighted The Wave Transit's 2008 Senior Bowl Shuttle. The APTA Annual Awards recognize excellence in public transportation marketing and communications.
