USA College of Medicine Honors Convocation

May 2nd, 2005

On May 6, 2005 at 7 p.m., the University of South Alabama College of Medicine will hold its 30th annual Honors Convocation ceremony at the USA Mitchell Center.

The Honors Convocation, held on the evening prior to commencement exercises, recognizes the academic achievements of senior medical students and acknowledges the faculty who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring.

Dr. Charles B. Rodning, professor and vice chair of surgery at the USA College of Medicine and father of graduating senior, Kai Rodning, was selected by the class to give the address to the class. Senior Paul Lamb will answer for the class.

During the ceremony, the class will be awarded their doctoral hoods. The front band of the hood for the doctor of medicine degree is green and the hoods are lined by the colors of the awarding university, which are red, white, and blue for USA.

In keeping with tradition, USA medical faculty will wear the academic regalia of the universities and colleges from which they earned their advanced degrees.

A reception will be held immediately after the ceremony at the Waterman Globe.
