Turning Bad Money Into Good Money

Apr 12th, 2006

In an unprecedented move, the city of Mobile was handed over a piece of property seized from a convicted drug dealer by the Department of Justice. The city will turn it into a park complete with a playground for children of all ages.
Mayor Sam Jones accepted the land on behalf of the city of Mobile.
“This is a great day for this neighborhood and the entire city of Mobile,” said Mayor Jones. “This is another message that criminals will not prosper from poisoning the community.”
The property was taken from drug dealer Frankie Delano Miller, after he was convicted of a drug conspiracy involving the distribution of multi-kilograms of cocaine and crack cocaine. Investigators found that he bought the property with plans to build a car wash facility, where he planned to launder the money.
