Tree Lighting Officially Kicks Off the City’s Holiday Season

Nov 10th, 2010

The Lighting of the Trees will officially kick off the City’s celebration of the holidays on Friday, November 19th from 5 until 7 p.m. in Bienville Square. Entertainers, vendors and Santa Claus will be on hand to help Mayor Sam Jones flip the switch and light up the City’s tree. Pictures with the big man are available for purchase. The rest of the entertainment, including holiday storytime with the Mobile Public Library, a petting zoo, playing in the snow and live performances, is free. A holiday market throughout the Square will also keep the bigger children happy with gifts, beverages and more.

Be sure to get there by 6 p.m. because the tree lighting happens promptly at 6:10 p.m. Parking on the streets is free at nighttime.
