Trash Pickup

Apr 10th, 2003

Spring cleaning in Mobile has slowed trash pickup and put city workers on
overtime, leaving piles of leaves, branches and furniture to linger on the
sides of many streets. John Windley, Mobile's superintendent of public
works, asks residents to be patient. The mayor has asked the council for
outside help. In the meantime, residents are asked not to place trash on curb more than 48 hours prior to pickup. Each resident is limited to
approx. 2 cubic yds (3 feet by 6 feet) or the equivalent of 15 trash bags.

Do not place building materials or other debris left by a contractor on the
curb. Loose debris, grass and leaves must be bagged or containerized. Do
not put trash under low tree limbs or utility lanes.
