TOP AVIATION HEADLINES FROM MOBILE, ALABAMA U.S.A.

  • Early this year, Mobile, Alabama, was named one of three finalists for Boeing’s 7E7 airline assembly plant.

  • ST Mobile Aerospace Engineering, a commercial jet repair and maintenance company, recently announced it would build two new hangers and hire 300 additional workers (MAE is American headquarters for Singapore Technologies Engineering)

  • Teledyne Continental Motors, a manufacturer of new and rebuilt piston aircraft engines, is working with Honda to test a piston aircraft engine, and entered into a joint venture with General Electric to develop a jet aircraft engine

  • Consultants say Brookley Complex, Mobile’s 1,700-acre facility, could be the best transportation hub and assembly site for the aerospace industry with a deep-water port accessing the Gulf of Mexico, airport, two major interstate systems and five major rail lines in one location.

  • Brookely is home to Alabama Aviation and Technical College’s Mobile Campus and is graduating skilled workers. Alabama Industrial Development Training, a state-funded facility, offering new and expanding businesses immediate access to collaborative training programs is also located there. (AIDT has provided training for ST Mobile Aerospace Engineering employees).
