Third Annual Mayor’s Art Contest Extended

Due to popular demand, Mayor Sam Jones is pleased to announce the extension of the 3rd annual Mayor's Children's Art Contest for the elementary and middle school students in the City of Mobile. The Art Contest is sponsored by Broussard's Piano Gallery & Academy of Music here in Mobile. Broussard’s worked with the Office of Strategic Initiatives to display in the Government Plaza atrium a Steinway piano, beautifully decorated with the work of local artist Devlin Wilson that brought much attention and recognition to the contest. With such growing interest, the contest that was originally slated to end October 31, 2012 was extended.

The “Music of Mobile” Art Contest will continue from November 1, 2012 thru November 15, 2012. Elementary and middle school students from throughout the city will be able to go online, register and submit artwork reflecting the theme. Grade-level and other certificates of achievement will be awarded, based on originality, artistic composition, and content.

Winning entries will be exhibited near the displayed Steinway piano in the atrium of Government Plaza from November 19, 2012 through November 30, 2012. All entrants, not just category winners, shall be invited to a recognition and awards ceremony that will take place December 5, 2012.
