These Quiet Cops Send a Strong Message

Jun 24th, 2008

You might notice some rigid cops (like the one seen below) around town. They can't talk, but their message is heard loud and clear - if you litter, get ready to pay for it. As part of Mayor Jones's ongoing anti-litter campaign, Keep Mobile Beautiful made these larger-than-life size cop cutouts to remind drivers of the $406 fine and court cost charges that come with littering.

The signs are being placed on high-volume traffic areas in advance of this weekend's 2nd Annual Litter Summit. It will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m. at the Harbor Communications Center at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The Litter Summit is a way for community leaders and Citizen Action Groups to share best-practices so that litter is transformed from a neighborhood nuisance to a thing of the past.
