The Wave Transit System 6th Annual Transit Awareness Day

Jul 24th, 2014

On Sunday, July 27, 2014 beginning @ 3:00 p.m., the Wave Transit System in partnership with the City of Mobile, Prichard Housing Authority will host The Wave Transit's 6th Annual Transit Awareness Fun Day Celebration, at the Plateau Community Center (850 Edwards Street, Mobile, AL). Transit Awareness Day is a day set aside to educate the community on the importance of public transportation and to give back to our customers and community. As an added feature, The Wave Transit will celebrate the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act with special presentations to both Independent Living Center and the Mobile Patriots.

Public transportation throughout the United States has proven to be an integral part of the solution to the nation's economic, energy, and environmental challenges by helping to bring a better quality of life. Constantly increasing in numbers, people are using public transportation and local communities are expanding public transit services. Over the past three years The Wave Transit System has provided over 1,000,000 passenger trips annually in the City of Mobile and surrounding areas.

Other scheduled activities for the event will include vendors, free refreshments, a transit vehicle showcase, exhibition basketball games featuring the Mobile Patriots Wheel Chair Basketball team, and the Alumni Chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
