The City of Mobile to Host its Annual Lighting of the Trees

Nov 13th, 2012

The City of Mobile will once again host its annual Holiday celebration with the Lighting of the Trees in Bienville Square on Friday, November 16th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Join Santa Claus, the Mobile Public Library, and more as the downtown Mobile community officially kicks off the Christmas and Holiday season.

Among local artisans, non-profit organizations, and specialty vendors, you will find entertainment provided by Turgut Bey featuring Mare Wakefield from the Mobile International Festival, and dance troupe as well as visitors from the International Festival. Play in the snow, get your face painted or check out Uncle Joe’s Rolling Zoo.

The Salvation Army Canteen will be on-site with coffee and hot chocolate. "And the bells will be ringing! The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama will kick off their 2012 Red Kettle Campaign for the City of Mobile. Salvation Army Divisional Commander, Major Ronnie Raymer, will join Area Commander Major Mark Brown to rally the support of the city in their efforts to continue helping our neighbors in need. Mayor Sam Jones will make the first red kettle donation drop on behalf of the City of Mobile."

At the heart of it all is Santa in his sleigh near the Tree. Bring your camera for a photo-op with Santa.

The Lighting of the Tree and the lights down Dauphin is promptly at 6:10 p.m., so be sure to get there in time!
