Mobile, Ala. -- The City of Mobile and the Mobile Museum of Art (MMofA) have collaborated to offer art classes led by the Museum School's prestigious artists .

"We want to offer every citizen in Mobile the opportunity to be introduced to world class art," said Mayor Stimpson. "The MMofA Museum School offers accomplished artists whose mastery of skill is second to none."

Children and adults alike are welcome to sign up for pottery, drawing and painting and multi-media classes.

The James M. Seals, Jr. Community Center is offering classes for children ages 10 and up and the Harmon Thomas Community Center is offering classes for adults 18 and up.

During pottery class, you can try your hand on the pottery wheel and also practice hand building with clay. Participants will make three to eight completed pieces. In the multi-media class, you will work with a professional writer to create an original handmade book.

These programs are provided by the City of Mobile, with additional support by the Mobile Museum of Art through grants from the Ben Mays Trust, Community Foundation of South Alabama, and the Moses Foundation.

Classes are $10 for children and $20 for adults. Space is limited. To register, please go to www.MobileMuseumofArt.com/learn/offsite or call 251.470.7752.
