The City of Mobile announces joint effort for new Engineering Center

The City of Mobile, Mocile County, and the Airport Authority have scheduled meetings to sign the contracts with the State of Alabama, the Alabama Industrial Traing Office, the Alabama Development Office, the Mobile Chamber of Commerce and Airbus North America Engineering, Inc. for the constructioon of an Engineering Center at Brookley Field Industrial Complex in Mobile.

The creation of the Engineering Center will create at least 150 full-time jobs. The state, city and county will contribute $5 million, $2.5 million and $2.5 million respectively for the construction of the center. The building will be owned by the Mobile Airport Authority and leased by Airbus.

In addition, the State will provide an economic development grant in the amount of $2.5 million and additional traing money through the Alabama Industrial Development Traing. The Chamber will assist in providing temporary office space until the finishing of the building. Construction will begin as soon as possible and will hopefully be done in a year.
