A Weekend of Music and Food at the Mitchell Company BBQ Championship and Hog Wild FestivalMOBILE- A great weekend of music and food starts off Friday night at the Mitchell Company BBQ Championship and Hog Wild Festival. This two-day event held at the Greater Gulf State Fairgrounds Friday, March 10, from 3:00-10:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 11, from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. The event will feature top teams from across the nation that will square off in the KCBS-sanctioned Mitchell Company BBQ Championship, while novice cookers will enjoy competing in the Backyard Q-Off. Festival-goers can also enjoy everything from cooking demonstrations to pig races. Parents will have a blast as some of the areas top musicians take to the stage. Meanwhile, kids of all ages will find tons of cool stuff to do in the Kids Corner, including inflatable games, science exhibits, a rock wall, pony rides and much, much more. We haven't even mentioned the 75-plus antique and specialty cars that will be on display, or the only Mardi Gras Parade in West Mobile. All of this for just $7 each day with kids under 12 admitted free - an amazing value for an incredible time.
The music for the weekend is a special feature for any music lover. There will be three national acts Friday night starting off with Lisa Mills at 5:00 p.m., Kevin Sharp at 7:00 p.m. and The Renegades of Southern Rock at 9:00 p.m. Also on Saturday the Battle of the Bands for BayFest will take place and the winner will be awarded a spot on one of the three main stages at BayFest, October 6-8, 2006.
