Statement from Mayor Stimpson on Passover

MOBILE, Ala. - Jean and I send our warmest greetings to all those celebrating Passover in the City of Mobile.

As it says in the Book of Exodus: "Then Moses said to the people, 'Commemorate this day, the day you came out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery, because the Lord brought you out of it with a mighty hand.'"

The Passover celebration is a reminder that, while the journey may be long and the progress may be slow, there is reason to believe that a better day lies ahead.

We are inspired by the story of the Israelites who Moses led out of slavery, and join with our Jewish friends in Mobile and across the world in celebrating the victory of faith over oppression.
