State of the City Events

GET THE FAMILY TOGETHER, LOAD UP THE CAR AND VISIT TWO OF OUR MUSEUMS IN CELEBRATION OF MOBILE ~FREE ADMISSION FOR THREE DAYS, THURSDAY-SATURDAY (MAY 8-10)!
· Museum of Mobile, 111 S. Royal Street, featuring dynamic permanent exhibits on Mobile’s history and "We Remember," 75 black and white photographs offering a glimpse into life during World War II. From the battle front to the home front, the exhibit creates windows back to the people and events that shaped history and the modern world.
· Museum of Art, 4850 Museum Dr., featuring such exhibits as “Poetic Spirit: Henry Wo Yuekee at 80,” “Gen X: Post-Boomers and the New South” and ‘Material Imaginings.”

Friday, May 9th: Fridays @ 5: Live music in both downtown Squares and along street corners on Dauphin and Conti Streets as a prelude to the ArtWalk. 5:00-9:00 p.m.
LoDa ArtWalk: Open house of downtown galleries, shops, and institutions who all showcase local artists. From 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 10th: Market on the Square offers citizens the freshest produce, breads, cut flowers, and handcrafted goods. From 7:30 am-11:00 am.
Kids Day Preview in Langan Park: Children's crafts and activities; live music by the Mobile Symphony Youth Orchestra ~ beginning at 4:00 p.m.; and a movie preview of EVAN ALMIGHTY at 8:00 p.m.
Free Recycling Event
The West Mobile Recycling Event, Saturday, May 10 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., the Business Innovation Center, 1301 Azalea Road.
Accepted items include mixed paper, cardboard, food/beverage glass containers, beverage/liquid plastic containers, clothing for Goodwill Easter Seals, automotive oil and filters, and used cooking oil.
Recycled Fibers, Earth Resources and Mobile Area Water Sewer Service, Keep Mobile Beautiful volunteers and staff will be on hand to assist recyclers.
