Spring Hill College Awarded $50,000 From Alabama Power Foundation

Nov 2nd, 2004

MOBILE, Ala. - Spring Hill College has been awarded a $50,000 one-time gift from the Alabama Power Foundation to be used to help fund construction costs of the new 71,000 square foot Marnie and John Burke Memorial Library. As a result of the gift, the College will name group study room 210 in the library for the foundation. A formal check presentation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 3, at noon in front of the Burke Memorial Library.

"We are very grateful for the support the Alabama Power Foundation has provided for the Spring Hill College library. This new facility has become a regional resource center serving not only our students, but also the people of Mobile," said Spring Hill College President Gregory F. Lucey, S.J.

As part of Wednesday's event, several Spring Hill College alumni, who are also Alabama Power employees, will be on hand to present the gift. A luncheon with these alumni will follow the presentation.
