Silver Hair Congress Meets in Mobile

Aug 20th, 2003

Members of the Silver Hair Congress will debate issues and pass bills in Mobile during their summer convention, August 23-26. More than 100 participants are expected from around the country, all appointed by their home state Senators and Representatives.

Alabama's Senior Silver Hair Senator, Louis Bell is coordinating the event in Mobile. He says this will be the largest summer gathering ever, and the first meeting in this part of the south.

Bell says the group will tackle issues just like their elected counterparts and they hope bills they pass will make it to Washington for consideration there.

The Congress will meet at the Convention Center and will be entertained by local bands, guest speakers and even a Mardi Gras parade.
