Saenger Project Brings New Acts to Historic Theater

Comedy and a new type of entertainment will take center stage at Mobile’s historic Saenger Theatre. Mobile Mayor Sam Jones was joined by are performers Wednesday to announce several new initiatives designed to create more awareness of the 1,900-seat facility.

They are:

• Don “D.C.” Curry – May 26
• Hypnaughty – June 14
• Showtime at the Saenger – June 15
• Saenger Night Live – June 21, July 5 & 19, and August 2
• Wild & Out – July 20
• The All-Star Comedy Showcase – 10 dates

“The Saenger Theatre is one of the jewels of downtown Mobile,” said Mayor Jones. “It is one of the oldest entertainment venues in the South. These performances represent the city’s continuing effort to increase tourism and expose the local community to this venue.”

“We have already increased our usage by nine event nights this summer,” said Interim Manager Greg Cyprian. “The groups promoting these events are local and have a love for our community.”

Cleaning/Minor Repairs

City crews will begin repairing the 17 shadow boxes in the arcade area of the facility. The facility’s windows and carpet will be cleaned.
