Ridding the City of Litter and Blight

Aug 17th, 2004

The City of Mobile's Public Services Committee will hold a meeting Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. in the 9th floor Conference Room at Government Plaza. This meeting will be the first of what it's Chairman, Clinton Johnson says will be many meetings and a long process to find ways to rid the city of litter and blight.

Councilman Johnson represents the city's 2nd district. He says he has been concerned for some time about the tremendous amount of litter and illegal dumping he sees throughout the city. Johnson and district 1 Councilman Fred Richardson say they want information from other cities on how they handle blighted areas, vacant run-down properties, and enforcement of city ordinances. They also want to seek help from members of Mobile's Legislative delegation on ways to dispose of vacant and run-down state properties.
