Proclamations: Sexual Assault Awareness, Diversity & Inclusion, GreenCoast, Kick Butts Day

Mayor Jones presented several proclamations at the April 1 City Council meeting. Each went to an organization that performs services for the citizens of Mobile.The first was for the Rape Crisis Center here in Mobile. April is recognized nationally as Rape and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Ms. Shawna Yokley, the Victim Advocate accepted the proclamation.
Representatives from the Junior League of Mobile were present to share information on the League's upcoming "Hands Across Mobile" event and the significance of establishing a city-wide day acknowledging diversity, outreach, and inclusion. Beth Morrissette, President, and Talma M. Carstarphen, Outreach and Diversity Chair accepted the proclamation.
Also, representatives from Smart Coast were honored for their GreenCoast Conference and Green Expo at the Mobile Convention Center next week. The founders of Smart Coast, Charlene Lee and Wendy Allen got the proclamation.
Finally, Mayor Jones welcomed the future leaders of Mobile. Several members of Students Working Against Tobacco, or SWAT, were on hand to celebrate Kick Butts Day. SWAT is led by Cathy Allgood, the project coordinator.
