Proclamations: Be There Month, Meet the Blind Month

Mayor Jones honored two very special programs at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 30. First, he recognized the "Be There" campaign from the Mobile County Public School System. Nancy Pierce, Public Relations Specialist for the MCPSS accepted a proclamation recognizing the Be There program. Be There is a multimedia campaign to get parents involved in their children's lives, to make the ordinary extraordinary and make each moment a teachable moment.Also, Mayor Jones welcomed members of the Mobile office of the National Federation of the Blind to dedicate October as Meet the Blind Month. Events are scheduled throughout the month to promote awareness of issues facing vision-impaired individuals and to showcase the accomplishments of those who overcome being visually impaired.
