November Officer of the Month: Clayton Fulks

Officer Clayton Fulks, a three year Mobile Police veteran assigned to patrol in the Third Precinct, will be awarded the Officer of the Month for his exceptional performance during November.

The following are some of the incidents that earned Officer Fulks the distinction of Officer of the Month:

On November 6, 2010 at approximately 3:40 p.m. officer Fulks was dispatched to a call involving several juveniles in the area of Midtown Park and Dauphin Street possibly armed with guns. Officers Fulks located the juveniles and after waiting for his backing officer, they were able to make contact with the juveniles. Three realistic BB guns were found and the juveniles were found to have caused damage to the Toomey Company building. The damages exceeded $2,500 dollars. Three juveniles were arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief First Degree.

On November 20, 2010 officers were investigating a burglary on Briarwood Drive. Information on the scene was sent out to officers in the area, and officer Fulks used that information to locate a vehicle involved in the burglary at Emogene Street and Florida Street. Officer Fulks stopped the suspect’s vehicle and both suspects in the vehicle ran to a nearby apartment complex. Officer Fulks was able to apprehend both suspects in the apartment complex., and both men were charged with Burglary Third Degree.

On November 21, 2010 at 11:45 a.m. officer Fulks was patrolling the area of Lafayette Street and Dr. Martin Luther King when he observed a gold Chevrolet that had been reported stolen. Officer Fulks waited for backing and was able to apprehend the driver. The driver was charged with Receiving Stolen Property First Degree.

On November 29, 2010 officer Fulks was dispatched to the area of Paris Avenue for two suspicious suspects walking in the area. After locating the suspects and a foot chase, Officer Fulks and backing officers were able to apprehend the suspects. A residence was discovered were the juveniles had attempted to make entry. The juveniles were arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass and attempting to Elude Police.

During the month of November Officer Fulks responded to 88 calls for service and 75 backing calls resulting in six felony arrest, six misdemeanor arrests, and issued eight traffic citations. Officer Fulks dedication to duty and attention to detail has brought credit upon himself and the Mobile Police Department.
