No-Insurance Tickets Becoming Easier and Cheaper to Be Paid

In an effort to deal with a sharp increase in no-insurance tickets at Municipal Court, city officials are offering a way for insured motorists, who just didn’t have the proof on insurance on them, to pay a small fee to get out of it.Starting November 1, 2006 motorists who are ticketed for having no proof of automobile insurance – that have a valid insurance policy at the time the citation is given to them – can bring that proof to any of the police precincts or police headquarters and pay a $20 fee. This is only for first time offenders. Previously, motorists had to pay over $100 in court costs.
