New Waterfront Park Coming to Arlington Point

Jul 22nd, 2008

The citizens of Mobile and our visitors will soon have a new waterfront park and scenic boardwalk, and small vessel launch site. The Mobile City Council unanimously approved an agreement with the Mobile Airport Authority and the Alabama State Port to create the nearly 20 acre public park at Arlington Point, near Brookley Field.

The park concept employs public desire for bay front picnic areas, walking trails and a kayak/canoe launch. Newly constructed wetlands will be incorporated into the park’s design through the use of trails and a walking pier to provide fishing and bay viewing opportunities. The park will also incorporate a building that will house restrooms, a WAVE Transit automated ticketing machine and a storage/maintenance area. The WAVE has agreed to include the park on its route and the Port’s construction will incorporate a covered bus shelter.
