New Metro Firing Range Opens

Mayor Sam Jones, Mobile Police Chief Phillip Garrett, Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran and FBI Special Agent in Charge Debra Mack officially opened the Metro Firearms Training Facility in West Mobile on Thursday, May 1, 2008. The state-of-the-art facility is includes a firing range, 2 training classrooms, a simulator training room and office space for the Mobile Police Department, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office and the FBI.

"This is another example of how we have come together as partners and provided the very best in law enforcement for the citizens of this community," said Mayor Jones.

Other agencies, including the United States Coast Guard are able to use the facility to hone the skills of their law enforcement officers.
