New Master Plan Coming for Mobile

Jan 10th, 2008

Better development, improved transportation, and updates to zoning and codes are all goals of the City of Mobile’s new master plan being put together right now. The City has signed a contract with EDSA to put the master plan together. The process will take much of 2008 to complete.

“As Mobile grows, we want to be able to grow smartly and effectively,” said Mayor Sam Jones. “This is one of the most important things we can do to chart the course of the city.”

The planning area is bordered on the east by the Mobile River, to the south by Interstate 10 and Duval Street, to the west by Houston Street and to the north by Three Mile Creek and the neighborhoods north of Martin Luther King Avenue.

All aspects of living, working, and visiting the area will be included in the master plan. Community meetings will be set up and announced for citizens living in the areas. A special website will also come online soon, so stay tuned for more information.
