MPD to Recognize G.R.E.A.T Students

More than 150 Mobile middle school students will be recognized for their hard work and participation in the Mobile Police Department’s G.R.E.A.T program next week. G.R.E.A.T (Gang Resistance Education and Training) is a semester-long course which teaches children self-esteem and respect in an effort help them avoid peer pressure and make positive choices. Students from Mae Eanes Middle School, Mobile County Training School, and Denton Middle School participated in the program by meeting with officers three times-a-week. “Our goal is to guide the students in a positive direction by giving the resources and serving as role models. They are all wonderful children and we’ve enjoyed working with them,” says Lt. Sonja McLeod of the Mobile Police Department’s crime prevention unit.The graduation schedule is as follows:
Mae Eanes Middle School – Wednesday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m.
Mobile County Training School – Thursday, May 14 at 9:30 a.m.
Denton Middle School – Friday, May 15 at 1:00 p.m.
