MPD Invites the Community to “National Night Out…A Night to Unite”

The Mobile Police Department is hosting the city’s “National Night Out… A Night to Unite” event at Bel Air Mall on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 at 5:45 p.m. The goal of the event, sponsored by The City of Mobile, the Mobile Police Department, Bel Air Mall, and Target Stores is to heighten awareness in crime and drug prevention. More than 36 million people nation-wide participated in the event in 2009.
The festivities will begin at the fountain near J.C. Penney promptly at 5:45 p.m. where participants will “Walk for Peace”. Participants will return to the fountain where Masters of Ceremonies WKRG 5 News Anchors Rose Ann Haven and Mel Showers will introduce numerous entertainment activities, award prizes, and present police and safety demonstrations. McGruff the Crime Dog’s 30th Birthday will be celebrated and police will distribute child fingerprint kits.
