Mobile's Indoor Courts Used for Hurricane Katrina Benefit

Jan 23rd, 2007

The City of Mobile's indoor tennis courts, usually housed in the Mobile Convention Center, were leased to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA for a Hurricane Katrina benefit featuring tennis legend Pete Sampras. More than 7,000 people attend the exhibition which feature a match-up between Sampras and fellow tennis great Todd Martin.

The City of Mobile is working on bringing similar exhibitions here. In 2004, two of the brightest stars of American tennis, Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick staged a match on an indoor court at the USA Mitchell Center.
