Mobile to Celebrate New Year with Block Party and Fireworks

Mobile’s annual Fireworks Show will have a new twist to usher in 2007. A Block Party has been added to the downtown celebration as a prelude to the fireworks display.

The Block party will be held on Royal Street between Church and Monroe Streets in the Fort Conde area. The party will feature the Bay City Brass Band which should give the event a Mardi Gras feel. The site also provides an obstruction-free viewing area for the fireworks display. The block party will begin at 10:00 p.m. and will last until 12:30 a.m.

In the past, Cooper-Riverside Park has been used as a viewing area but the park is closed due to construction.

This year’s display will utilize larger shells that will make for a more visual and colorful presentation.
