Alabama Tourism Partnership Governor's Conference Presents 12 Awards

Mobile Mayor Mike Dow, former State Senator and Executive Director of the Tricentennial celebration, Ann Bedsole, and longtime tourism advocate and current Director of the Mobile Film Office, Eva Golson all have one thing in common: Tourism-specifically promoting tourism in the state.

The three have one more thing in common. They are all 2003 Alabama Tourism Award winners. During the Alabama Tourism Partnership Governor's Conference that just ended in Huntsville, Mayor Dow, Mrs. Bedsole and Mrs. Golson all received their awards from Alabama First Lady, Patsy Riley.

Mayor Dow received the Alabama Tourism Advocate Award for outstanding support of tourism by government leaders. The Mayor was among nine legislators and mayors nominated for the award.

Ann Bedsole accepted the Award for Alabama Event of the Year for outstanding performance and achievement. The event singled out for this award was Mobile's Fourth of July 2002, Sail Mobile that was the highlight of the city's Tricentennial celebration.

Eva Golson received the Alabama Tourism Hall of Fame Award for her career contributions to tourism.
