MOBILE: STILL THRIVIN' AFTER IVAN

Sep 21st, 2004

MOBILE, ALABAMA - After a short visit from Hurricane Ivan, Mobile is wide open for both business and pleasure. Considering the size and intensity of the storm, minimal damaged was inflicted on our area. Mobile has recovered quickly from Ivan's wrath and we are now stronger than ever. We encourage you to come and see for yourselves.

The USS Alabama and Battleship Park are up and running. The park and the vessels are open to all visitors. According to Park Director, Bill Tunnell "We are open for business and if you know any folks who want to visit, send them on!" The Exploreum Science Center located in downtown Mobile, suffered no damage during the storm. They will be open all week during regular hours of operation.

For those who love to relax on the fairway and enjoy this perfect weather, we have golf courses waiting for you. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove lost many trees during the storm. Clean up on the courses started as soon as weather permitted. After much hard work, The Crossings golf course is open for play today while the two other courses will be reopened as soon as their fairways are cleared. Both the restaurant and golf shop have power and are open for business.

As power is restored to the area, attractions and businesses are opening their doors to both locals and visitors. Hurricane Ivan has brought the city of Mobile together and made us stronger, proving that it will take much more than a hurricane to shut this city down.
