Mobile Regional Senior Community Center Welcomes its First Guests

Nov 18th, 2008

The ribbon has been cut and the doors have been opened at the Mobile Regional Senior Community Center in west Mobile. The 20,000-square foot facility boasts, 3 multifunctional rooms, a workout room, a thermal plunge pool, a billiards room, a computer lab, a dancing/dining facility, a cafe, and a location for health screenings.

"The purpose of this center is three-fold," said Mayor Sam Jones. "To improve the wellness of our seniors, to create educational opportunities where none previously existed, and to provide a recreational platform, so that our silver days can be our best days."

Councilwoman Connie Hudson worked tirelessly for several years to make sure the center became a reality. "The opening of the Center is a tremendous accomplishment for the citizens of our entire community," Councilwoman Hudson said.

The Center is located at 3201 Hillcrest Road just north of Girby Road. It is open to seniors living throughout Mobile County. The hours of operation are:

Monday - Thursday: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sunday: 1 - 5 p.m.
