Mobile Police Getting New Four-Legged Help

Oct 25th, 2006

The Mobile Police Department has been selected to receive a donation for the purchase of a new police dog. Food World in association with Milk-Bone’s "Canine Heroes Program" will be presenting a $5,000 check to Chief Phillip Garrett during a ceremony on Thursday, October 26, 2006. The money provided by the “Canine Heroes Program” will add one additional fully trained dog to the department’s current number of three. The dogs already in use by the department are trained to track suspects, detect drugs and locate bombs.

The event will include a demonstration put on by the Canine Detail for students from Cottage Hill Baptist School. The activities are set to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Food World, located at 4055 Cottage Hill Road.

“This donation will go a long way in our efforts to combat crime,” said Chief Garrett.
