Mobile Police Department to Hold Youth Academy Graduation Ceremony

Twenty-three Mobile youth now have a new perspective regarding police work. For five weeks, they have participated in the Mobile Police Department’s Citizens Youth Academy and will graduate with a certificate of completion Saturday, July 18 at 12:30 p.m. at the Mobile Police Department Training Academy, 1251 Virginia St.

The students received detail instruction on patrol operations, radar usage, narcotics and vice detail, juvenile law, crime scene investigation, and hostage negotiation. The class also took weekend field trips to the J.O. Davis Correctional Facility in Atmore, The Mobile Metro Jail, and the 911 Communications Center.

Anyone interested in applying for the program should call the Training Academy at 208-2730 or download an application at www.cityofmobile.org/mobilepd. Applications are accepted at any time and classes will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Background checks will be required and no applicant with a felony conviction will be admitted to the program.
