Mobile Opera presents homecomings of Lauren Zoghby and Chauncey Packer

Mobile Opera proudly presents the homecomings of soprano Lauren Zoghby and tenor Chauncey Packer. Both talents have an impressive performance history and we are honored to have them as a part of our 2004 season line-up.

Lauren Zoghby is a native of Fairhope, Alabama. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Alabama and is currently pursing a masters' degree in vocal performance from the University of Houston. Ms. Zoghby first debuted in 1999 as a recitalist for the Eastern Shore Chamber Music Series. Since, she has performed for the Mobile Symphony, Musica Sacra, and the Pensacola Choral Society. She has appeared in Mobile Opera mainstage, including La Traviata, Rigoletto, and the Three Sopranos. Ms. Zoghby will be joining the Mobile Opera this March in the lead soprano role, Yum Yum, of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado.

Tenor Chauncey Packer, a Mobile native, is a graduate of the University of Mobile. He earned a Master of Music degree from the University of New Orleans and is currently pursuing his doctorates from Louisiana State University. Mr. Packer has appeared with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Mobile Symphonic Pops and the Mobile Symphony. He has appeared in productions of Rigoletto and Porgy and Bess, with the New Orleans Opera, as well as a number of performances with the Utah Festival Opera. In October of 2004, Mr. Packer will be performing for Mobile Opera as Lt. Pinkerton in the production of Puccini's Madame Butterfly.
Ms. Zoghby and Mr. Packer are two rising stars of the opera stage. Mobile Opera takes a special pride in our role in starting these two very exciting careers. Please plan to join us for their very special debut appearances in 2004.
