Mobile Mourns the Passing of Former Mayor Lambert Mims

With mourning hearts the City of Mobile remembers former Mayor Lambert Mims who passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008. Mayor Mims served as Mayor/Public Works Commissioner from 1965 – 1985. He also served our community as Past President of American Public Works Association, Past President Alabama Baptist State Convention, Past President Mobile Baptist Association, Past President Alabama League of Municipalities. He also was active in numerous civic organizations: Kiwanis Club, Christian Business Men’s Commission.

"Lambert Mims was a Christian man who set his priorities on the effective delivery of public services to the citizens of Mobile," said Mayor Sam Jones. "He'll be sadly missed by all of us."

Mr. Mims leaves his wife, Reecie P. Mims, two sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren among other friends, family and other admirers to cherish his memories. He was 78 years old.
