Mobile Fire Rescue Takes Delivery of New Ladder Trucks

Today, Tuesday, February 19, Mayor Sam Jones, Fire Chief Stephen Dean and the members of the City Council presented two new ladder trucks at the City Council meeting that were recently purchased for the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department.

The trucks were manufactured by E-One in Ocala, Florida and purchased through Sunbelt Apparatus in Fairhope, Alabama and delivered to the department on Monday, February 18. E-One has a representative in Mobile giving a class to familiarize the firefighters with the new trucks and their operation.

The trucks are E-One 2012 HP 100’ Aerial Platform Ladder Trucks. The trucks have a 2000 gallon per minute (GPM) capacity and cost approximately $975 thousand each.

One of the trucks (Truck 5) will be housed and replace the current ladder truck at the Tapia Fire Station on Airport Blvd near Regency and the other (Truck 24) will be placed at Lathan Fire Station on Maryvale Street off Dauphin Island Parkway. The current Truck 5 is over 25-years-old while the current Truck 24 is over 26-years-old with mileage on both exceeding 100 thousand miles.
