Mobile Fire-Rescue Looking for Search & Rescue Dogs

Mobile Fire-Rescue Department's Urban, Search and Rescue Team (USAR) - Alabama Task Force One (ALTF-1) - will host a meeting on Wednesday, March 18 beginning at 6 p.m. for potential volunteers with dogs that may be interested in training for search and rescue. The meeting, for humans only, will be held at the department’s training academy located at 860 Owens Street across from the City's Animal Shelter.

The team currently has eight (8) dogs and their handlers of which three (3) are FEMA Certified Search and Rescue Dogs.

Search and Rescue Dogs have been used during the aftermath of hurricanes along the Gulf Coast, the Tornadoes that struck Enterprise (AL) High School, the Oklahoma City Bombing and the terrorist attacks on September 11th.
