The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is currently seeking highly motivated and qualified men and women for the position of Firefighter who enjoy working with the public and delivering a professional level of service. Mobile is a growing and progressive city located near the Gulf Coast of Alabama. Mobile Fire-Rescue Department is a full service provider with over 500 uniformed fire/medical personnel providing fire and emergency medical services to the community, responding from 20 strategically located fire stations 24 hours a day, seven days a week.QUALIFICATIONS: If you take pride in your work and are highly motivated individual who knows how to work as part of a team, has compassion for their fellow man, who will serve with honor and integrity then we encourage you to apply with the following minimum qualifications.
• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Be at least 18 years of age at time of employment
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record from state of residence
• Alabama Firefighter Certified
• Non-certified applicants must exhibit proof of passing Candidate

Prefer Fire or Medical Science Associate’s degree. Additionally, National Registry EMT or Paramedic certification or ability to obtain Alabama paramedic certification is desirable, up to 40% Paramedic Incentive depending on assignment. This position is non-exempt shift work (24 hours on/48 hours off) and requires the ability to work rotating schedules.
All qualified applicants will be individually notified when and where to report for examination. The examination will consist of two sections: (1) a written test counting 50% of the final grade, and (2) a rating counting 50% in which applicants will be scored on the basis of an evaluation of their education, training, experience and personal qualifications as outlined by the candidates’ sworn statements in their application, upon corroborative evidence obtained by investigation and the applicants’ response to the Supplemental Questionnaire Form. Applicants must provide all background information and supportive documents as requested on the application form and job announcement. Applicants must score at least 70% on each section of the examination in order to be eligible for a place on the employment register. Applicants will receive a written examination study booklet upon returning the completed application. Successful candidates who receive a contingent job offer must be able to pass a pre-employment medical exam, drug test and background screening prior to hiring. Highly competitive starting pay ranging from $29,361 - $46,938 annually and benefit package including health, dental, life, short term disability; city sponsored defined benefit pension plan, Tuition Reimbursement program for College Coursework leading to a degree. 50% reimbursement for Tuition, books and fees, educational incentive pay (5% Associates/10% Bachelor’s/15% Masters Degrees) and much more.
