Mobile Fire-Rescue Explorers Bring Home Two Awards

Members of the Mobile Fire-Rescue Explorer Post brought home first and second place trophies from the Annual Fire Explorer Competition held in Trussville, Alabama this past weekend, April 18-19.Mobile Fire-Rescue had two teams competing in five events, with a total of nine Explorers attending this year’s competition. There were eight departments represented with a total of fourteen teams in the competition.
Mobile Team II placed first in the Room Search Event, in this event two team members had to extinguish a simulated fire while two other team members searched, located and removed a victim from the simulator. Mobile Team I placed second in the Bunker Gear Relay, in this timed event each team member must put their fire gear on one at a time and then complete a series of task, such as fire hydrant connection, attic crawl, hose drag, ladder carry and equipment recognition and then return to the starting point tagging the next member.
The Mobile Fire-Rescue Department Explorer program is open to young adults age 14 with the completion of 8th grade to age 21. For more information contact Captain Todd Norsworthy at 251-208-1164.
