Mobile Fire Fighters to Kickoff Boot Drive with Proclamation

Mar 17th, 2008

On Tuesday March 18, 2008 at the regular meeting of the Mobile City Council, Mobile Firefighters will host a kick off event to get ready for their annual Fill the Boot Drive to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Mayor Sam Jones will proclaim the month of March as “Firefighter Appreciation Month” in support of the effort. Chief Stephen Dean will be there to lend his support and to congratulate the firefighters.

Mobile Firefighters will hit the streets beginning March 21 to raise money to “put out” neuromuscular diseases. The money collected will benefit Jerry’s Kids in the local community. You’ll spot these big hearted heroes on the streets as well as area retail businesses in support of their mission. Last year the “Fill the Boot” campaign raised over $460,000 with Mobile Fire-Rescue Department ranking as one of the top three departments in collections raising over $35,000!

MDA helps children and adults who are affected by the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered by MDA’s comprehensive medical services and research programs. Please support these Firefighters by dropping money in the boot, when you do so you are helping Mobile Firefighters to help families fight back against neuromuscular disease!
