Mobile Dedicates Mobile Landing

The City of Mobile formerly dedicated Mobile Landing on March 24, 2003 and honored U.S. Senator Richard Shelby for his part in securing $20 million in project money. During the ceremony, Mayor Michael C. Dow proclaimed March 24th as Sen. Richard Shelby Day for the City of Mobile.

The $20 million in federal dollars secured by Sen. Shelby helped the city build an amphitheater and docking facility at the 8-acre site. The mayor is seeking more federal dollars to complete the next phases of the project. He says there are no plans to use city funds for the project. Mayor Dow said the development should bring Mobile back to its waterfront roots.
