Mayor Stimpson Welcomes Innovation Teams to Mobile

Jan 31st, 2017

Mobile, Ala. -- Mayor Stimpson released the following statement regarding Bloomberg Philanthropy Innovation Teams' visit to the City of Mobile.

Mayor Stimpson said, "The City of Mobile is proud to welcome innovation teams from all over the country. When Bloomberg Philanthropies selected our city to invest in innovation capacity in 2015, we knew we were joining a global network of civic innovators. We are excited they that many of those cities could be here in the Port City this week to train and learn together with world-renown experts in design-based innovation. This partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies has already led to a completely new approach to how the city approaches blight, leading to a 200 percent increase in the number of blighted properties we were able to remedy over the prior year, with even more advances in store. This week's trainings are designed to bolster our city's ability to build empathy with our residents and create impactful solutions that meet their needs."
