Jan 18th, 2016

MOBILE, Ala. - Mayor Stimpson released the following statement on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Stimpson said, "Martin Luther King, Jr. believed every single person was entitled to dignity and respect regardless of race or color. He personified the spirt of One Mobile embracing all walks of life and challenging the status quo. We've made progress in Mobile over the past two years, but issues such as education, work force development and other systemic problems remain. I will strive daily to remove these racial barriers and to bring together a community that is truly One Mobile."

Mayor Stimpson will observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this morning at the 27th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast held at Bishop State Community College.

Martin Luther King, Jr. embodied the spirit of One Mobile.
"We must all learn to live together as brothers, or we will all perish together as fools."
