Mayor Stimpson selects the City of Mobile's September Employees of the Month

Oct 6th, 2015

Mobile, Ala. - Mayor Sandy Stimpson today announced the two newest members of his Employee Recognition Program.

The City of Mobile's September Employees of the Month are City Planner Kina Andrews and Electrician Dwight Patterson. Both Andrews and Patterson will each receive a $500 bonus for their exemplary work performance.

Andrews transferred from her role as the Citi-Smart analyst to Planner last year. She played a key role in securing the Bloomberg Innovation Grant awarded to the City last December and is a member of the Map for Mobile core team charged with developing the City's first comprehensive plan in 20 years.

"Kina is a dedicated, knowledgeable and trustworthy professional who is well regarded by her colleagues," said Mayor Stimpson. "Her planning background and public administration graduate degree are valuable assets to the City, and I have tremendous respect for her talent and work ethic."

Patterson is a key member of the City's electrical team who took on the project of reconditioning the damaged cast iron poles located throughout Downtown Mobile. Patterson sanded, welded, painted and reset each pole saving the City thousands of dollars.

"Dwight's efforts to restore these cast iron poles beautified Downtown Mobile and are crucial to our downtown revitalization efforts," said Stimpson. "He is a dedicated problem solver with a keen sense to detail."

Mayor Stimpson began the Employee Recognition Program immediately after stepping into his office to reward employees who use innovation to reduce costs and improve services for the citizens of Mobile. He sets aside $50,000 of his mayoral salary each year to fund the program.
