Mayor Stimpson, Rural Sourcing announce IT internship

MOBILE, Ala. - Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced today that Rural Sourcing, Inc. (RSI) is generously donating $4,000 to the City of Mobile to finance a paid internship program in the city's Information Technology department.

"This is a perfect example of how public-private partnerships can transform city government," said Mayor Stimpson. "I want to thank RSI for their investment in our community and their confidence in the future of Mobile."

Miles Forbes, a Mobile native and University of South Alabama student, began his internship with the city this week. During the program he will participate in RSI's Tech Tuesday event each week and will give a presentation to the software development company on lessons learned at the City.

Forbes is a recipient of the National Science Foundation and Department of Homeland Security CyberCorps Scholarship for Service. He is a mathematics and statistics major and tutors other USA students on those subjects. Specifically, Forbes provides academic assistance to university athletes in a number of subjects including Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics and various science related courses.

"Miles will be a welcome addition to our team," said Mayor Stimpson. "I am confident he will help accelerate our implementation of the city's new, state of the art technology system."
