Mayor Stimpson recognizes Information Technology Task Force

Dec 16th, 2014

MOBILE, Ala. - Mayor Sandy Stimpson recognized members of the Mayor's Information Technology Task Force during today's City Council for their efforts to improve the City of Mobile's computer systems.

Stimpson created the volunteer task force shortly after taking office in 2013 to help his Administration conduct a comprehensive review of the City of Mobile's IT capabilities.

The task force, comprised of a diverse group of leaders from Mobile's high tech community, successfully identified a replacement for the city's aging software and systems. After countless hours of research, interviews and evaluations, the city decided to pursue the modules offered by Tyler Technologies. Implementation of this new, modern system will begin on Wednesday, December 17.

"This task force sacrificed their time and energy to search for a solution to the city's obsolete software system," said Stimpson. "I am proud of their efforts and their selection of Tyler Technologies. This world class system will revolutionize how the City of Mobile operates, and the members of the task force played a key role in the selection process."

Under the Chairmanship of Dr. Alec Yasinsac, Dean of the School of Computing, University of South Alabama, the IT Task Force was comprised of the following members of the local business and academic community who brought a perspective on best business practices and working knowledge about state-of-the-art systems and technology:

  • David Akridge, Mobile County Public Schools

  • Manoj Annyarumbhatla, Infinity Client Solutions

  • Joe Bullard, Joe Bullard Automotive (Co-Chairman, Mayoral Transition Team)

  • Boyd Douglas, CPSI

  • Liz Freeman, Long's Human Resources

  • Russell Hoover, Smith, Dukes, Buckalew

  • Chris Lee, J.L. Bedsole Foundation

  • Andy Newton, Southern Light

  • Nick Ott, Scotch Gulf Lumber

  • Dean Parker, Vita Capital

  • Michael Pierce, MLK Avenue Redevelopment (Co-Chairman, Mayoral Transition Team)

  • Davis Pilot, Pilot Catastrophe

  • Nick Robinson, Armbrecht Jackson

  • Chris Sylvester, Mitchell Company

  • Bestor Ward, Ward Properties

  • Alec Yasinsac, Dean, School of Computing, University of South Alabama

This is the first time since 1999 that the City of Mobile had made a significant investment in software. The previous systems in place were outdated, inefficient and increasingly expensive compared to the latest technology.
