Mayor Stimpson joins Salvation Army Advisory Board

MOBILE, Ala. - Major Mark Brown, Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama, today appointed Mayor Sandy Stimpson to the Salvation Army Advisory Board. Stimpson joins an influential group of community leaders who give their time and efforts to further the mission of The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama."I am humbled to join such an esteemed group of people who sacrifice their time to minister Mobilians in need," said Stimpson. "Their work exemplifies the vision of One Mobile."
As part of his new responsibilities, Mayor Stimpson will evaluate the needs of the community and advise the Salvation Army on establishing new programs and expanding current ones.
"We are thrilled that Mayor Sandy Stimpson has chosen to become a member of The Salvation Army of Coastal Alabama's Advisory Board," said Major Brown. "This position will give the Mayor experience and first hand insight into the challenges facing many of the economically disadvantaged members of the Mobile area community, as well as families struggling to cope with the challenges of addiction. It is a huge honor for me to personally induct the Mayor as a member of our Board, and I look forward to working closely with him in the days ahead."
During today's meeting, Major Brown updated Mayor Stimpson on the U.S. Marine "Toys for Tots" program. All of the donated toys, bikes and clothes will be included in The Salvation Army Angel Tree.
