MOBILE, Ala. - Mayor Stimpson is introducing a proposal to enhance rights -of-way and ditches in neighborhoods throughout the City of Mobile.Mayor Stimpson has submitted three contracts to partner with private contractors to mow and clear rights-of-way and ditches. The Administration asks the City Council to approve these contracts during Tuesday's council meeting so work can begin as soon as possible.
If approved, the proposal includes a $260,00 contract to Best Price Services, LLC. to mow the Dauphin Island and Cypress Shores' ditches; a $186,300 contract to Best Price Services, LLC to mow the Government Street and Dauphin Island Parkway rights-of-way; and a $46,700 contract to Kingdom Care Lawn Service to mow the Trinity Gardens' ditches.
Earlier this week, Mayor Stimpson launched his mowing plan to enhance its rights-of-way during the peak growing season. Last Tuesday, the City Council voted to approve three contracts to mow rights-of-way in University Boulevard, Demetropolis Road, Cottage Hill, Hillcrest Road, Airport Boulevard, Dauphin Street, Michigan Avenue, Water Street, Canal Street, Beauregard Street, Claiborne Street, Lawrence Street and Broad Street.
The City of Mobile experienced top notch results after partnering with the private sector to handle major thoroughfare mowing during last year's growing season. This is the next step in the Stimpson Administration's efforts to improve the appearance, maintenance and overall cleanliness of the City of Mobile.
"For many years, rights-of-way and ditches across the City of Mobile were neglected, and I am looking forward to seeing how this transforms underserved communities," said Mayor Stimpson. "Our citizens deserve a clean and well maintained city. By partnering with the private sector to help us maintain our ditches and rights-of-way, the city will expand its capacity to better serve our citizens."
